Christmas with the gypsy children of Ogra Village

God blessed our work in Ogra this year with many many more regular children, so we had about 180 gypsy children at our Christmas party!!! Our teenagers helped with the preparation for the big day. Some of them were involved in the theater and others made many different decorations, so that the majors’ hall would look nicely.
The first program was for the children from 5 to10 years old, after that we welcomed the kids from 11 to 18 years old.
Our teenagers prepared some new Christmas carols and all of the children were eager to sing along. We all enjoyed watching our teenagers on scene, when they told us the Christmas story in a theater piece. After that we played some games and everybody was encouraging the kids who played on scene.
This semester the older kids learned five different Bible verses and we encouraged them to keep them in mind. In each group were about 5 to7 kids who tried to say all the verses, and of course they got a special gift for that.
For the first time since we work in Ogra we were giving them a hot meal – the traditional “sarmale” which are cabbage rolls filled with meet – which was very special for our kids. They just loved it! Two of the mom’s from the community helped us serving the meal.
At the very end Santa came and every child got a present … for some of them the only real Christmas present ever.
Thanks to all of our volunteers, who help weekly in our programs, our sponsors, and of course our Heavenly Father, we were able to have such a great and blessed Christmas party with our dear children. Hope yours was just like ours!
