School Supplies for Children in Ogra
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”
When we started our programs in Ogra years ago, one of the things we noticed needs change is education. So many children did not go to school and most of the adults were illiterate.
We believe that if the children are educated and go to school their eyes are opened to a whole new world. It isn’t easy though because so many generations before were raised with the impression that school is not important.
One of the reasons children did not go to school was the lack of school supplies due to poverty. So a few years back our partners and sponsors from Netherlands Stichting Livada started a project of raising money for school supplies for the almost 300 children that attend school in Ogra and 5 high school students that come from poor families.
Every year in September, Natasha Wouterson and Julie Wouterson visit us from Netherlands with school supplies. The children are so excited about their visit and the school supplies they receive for the year ahead. This year was no exception; starting with the preschoolers to 8th graders everyone received a bag of notebooks, pens, pencils and all the necessary things for the new school year. Also for the 5 high school students from Ogra who we are so proud of for getting this far!
We want to thank all our sponsors from Netherlands for all their donations for these little ones, and for helping us to shape a different future for the community in Ogra. We wouldn’t be able to do our part here if you were not supporting us. We appreciate all that you do.
