Christmas Lights and Happy Faces – Ogra Ministry
Romania has been covered in white, which is perfect to get in the right mood to celebrate Christmas with the children and teens in Ogra.
For the past 7 years we organized big Christmas celebrations at the school in Ogra with all our children. This year in April we had to reorganize our programs due to different factors and we had to choose 20 children to work with every week, we chose to work with the 2nd and 3rd grade, we meet with them every week and help them with math and grammar homework. We also continued our counseling and support meetings with the 6 high-school students we have enrolled in town.
This year just like last year we tried to collect Christmas presents through our campaign “Offer with your heart” for all the children at the school in Ogra because they all come from at risk families, so many people responded to our campaign and we are so grateful to all of them, but unfortunately there weren’t enough for all the children, so we decided to have a Christmas party just with the children we work with directly.
On Sunday evening we brought the children in Targu Mures to see the Christmas lights and to have a meal at KFC, we had so much fun and it was so wonderful to see the lights through their overjoyed eyes. They really enjoyed their dinner at KFC too and at the end, before taking them home, each of them received a present. Some of the children weren’t able to come but we took their presents at home when we went to drop off the other children.
Than on Monday afternoon we celebrated with the high-school students, we went out to a coffee shop and had a wonderful time, talking and laughing. And in the end they also received presents which they were very happy about.
We want to thank our donors and everyone that has supported us through this past year. Thank you to all the people that gave presents. There were some presents left which we will give as special prizes in the year to come for good results in school.
