Christmas is Coming!
Our after-school outreach programs have hit a rough patch in recent months. A year ago, we had three American missionaries and four Romanians on our team, but since then we have been whittled down to just one missionary and one soon-to-be part time Romanian team member. We have had to stop programs for the time being, except for one program in Reghin.
At this program, we have a team of four semi-regular Romanian volunteers and one extremely dedicated volunteer, Diana Ujica. She was one of the previous Romanian staff members on our team, but even since her departure as an employee she has been coming every week as a volunteer. In total there are about twenty-five kids, ages six to seventeen, that come every Friday to enjoy some free-time, hear a lesson, play organized games, and do crafts. Right now, our lessons are focused on king David and how things went for him when he listened to God’s voice versus when we chose not to listen. We want these kids to see what a difference God made in David’s life and what a difference He can make in their lives when they choose to listen to and obey God.
Like most kids, our kids look forward to Christmas every year. One of the highlights is the Christmas shoebox from Samaritan’s Purse. At this time, we are unsure if we will receive them this year due to a shortage. We know God is in control and as always, He continues to provide what we need.
I would ask for you to pray for the future of our after-school programs and for Christmas for the kids in Reghin. Pray that God would bring loving and dedicated Romanians to come alongside us to work with and love these kids.
