Orphan Outreach Summer Overview

Orphan Outreach Summer Overview

This past summer has been yet another wonderful season of camp and spreading the Gospel here in Mures County, Romania. We changed up the structure of our summer camps this year from having a week-long day-camp format for each group of kids to having a program one day a week for six weeks for each group of kids. With this structure, we’re able to have a more consistent presence in the kids’ lives, as our staff and volunteers saw each kid on a weekly basis throughout the summer. It also allowed our American teams that came to serve for just one week to be able to see and interact with each group of kids that Livada works with during their visit.

Our theme for the entire summer was about God’s truth and finding our identity in what he says about us. Every day for six weeks we had programs for the kids, lasting from four to six hours. During that time, through games, crafts, songs, bible lessons, and small group discussions, our team of Romanian staff members and volunteers alongside American missionaries, interns, and short-term teams were able to show God’s love and truth and help kids understand their value in God’s eyes.

We were grateful to have lots of help from numerous volunteers that came to serve alongside us. We had seven college-aged women that came as interns for 2 months this summer, serving for the duration of our summer programs. We also had six short-term teams that each came to volunteer for one week of camp. We had teams as small as a single person, and some as large as fourteen people, from all over America, but each one came with a servant’s heart and overflowing with joy that can only be found in Christ, and we are thankful for the sacrifices they made to be able to serve the orphaned children in Mures County. In addition to our American volunteers, we also had a handful of Romanian high-school students that volunteered and helped with translation for our American partners.

We are so thankful for another incredible summer and for the opportunity we had to watch God change so many hearts this summer. Not only did we see many kids proclaim faith in Christ and a desire to have a relationship with him, but we also saw some of our Romanian volunteers hear and accept the Gospel for the first time. God is doing big things in Mures County!

Last week school started in Romania and soon our follow up activities will be performed. Please keep us in your prayers in this next year both on the educational side and on the ministry side. Thank you!
