LOC Kids hanging out with former intern Stephanie and LOC staffer Becca
The fall of 2014 was full of many changes for the teenagers in our LOC group homes. Several of them were moved to the local dorms, switched houses, endured some staffing changes, and started a new school year with new teachers and new friends. So, all of these changes seemed to make our Christmas break all the more special and memorable. We were finally all back together for an extended period of nearly 3 weeks, and we tried to make the most of our time together!
Our good friend, past intern and team member, Stephanie Kumler, was visiting, which also added some extra fun and allowed us to do some extra special activities. During the kid’s break, we enjoyed going to the movie theater, ice skating, having Christmas movie marathons, having a cooking competition (which the boys won!), and enjoying a family meal at one of the local restaurants. One of the highlights of the Christmas season for us as a family is the Romanian tradition of Christmas caroling on the evening of Christmas Eve. We all went together to some past and current staff member’s homes where we serenaded them with song and then enjoyed lots of yummy snacks and fun fellowship. It was a blast! During our Christmas Ever dinner as a family, Stefan read us the Christmas story, Daniel shared a thought with us, and we spent time in prayer as a family. This was such a special time of family unity.
The following day, which is considered the second day of Christmas in Romania, we had a Christmas party that was a blast!
It was such a joy spending this Christmas holiday with our teens. They continue to grow and mature, and they are so thankful not only for their gifts but for the gift of family that God has given them through each other. Being a part of watching them grow not only in their independence but in their love for one another throughout their moments of transition has been such a great honor and privilege.
Thank you so sincerely for your prayers for the LOC kids and for the others this Romanian orphan charity ministers to. We hope that you and your families had as blessed of a holiday season as we did! Have a Happy New Year!
