What would your perfect world look like?
That simple question became one of the most meaningful moments of Livada Orphan Care’s Summer Camp this year.
Our camp theme was Creation, inviting children to discover God’s beautiful design for the world and His love for each one of them. As an icebreaker before one of the Bible lessons, campers were asked to imagine what a perfect world would look like.
The answers began just as you might expect from children.
There were rivers of chocolate. Mountains of ice cream. Endless fun and laughter.
But as more children shared, their dreams became far more revealing.
One child described a world where no one fights anymore. Later, we learned there is significant conflict at home. Another imagined a world where the ground was covered with clean tiles instead of dirt. Only afterward did we discover that the floor of this child’s home is dirt.
In just a few moments, their answers gave us a glimpse into realities no child should have to experience.
What many children take for granted—a peaceful home, a clean place to sleep, and a safe environment—are the very things some of these young hearts long for most.
That is why camp matters.
For a week, these children experienced something different. They were surrounded by caring adults, encouraged by friends, immersed in God’s Word, and reminded that they are deeply loved by their Creator. They laughed together, played together, worshipped together, and discovered that the God who created a perfect world has not forgotten them.
This year also brought another reason to celebrate.
Five first-time volunteers joined our team from the vulnerable communities we serve. One young woman immediately connected with the child’s dream of “a world without fighting.” Together we paused to pray for peace in her home.
Watching these young volunteers care for the campers was a beautiful reminder that hope multiplies. Children who have experienced hardship are becoming compassionate leaders for the next generation. They relived the joy of camp while faithfully serving younger children with patience, responsibility, and love.
We pray that each of these young volunteers will continue to grow into faithful adults who know Christ and reflect His love to others.
At Livada, we believe every child deserves more than a week of fun.
Every child deserves to know they are seen.
They deserve to hear that they are loved by God.
They deserve the opportunity to imagine—and ultimately experience—a future filled with hope.
Thank you for helping make that possible. Through your prayers, generosity, and partnership, children are discovering that while this world is not yet perfect, there is a God who is making all things new—and inviting them to be part of His story.
Together, we are helping vulnerable children grow.
